Plovdiv

History
Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria. The town in its present appearance was built around seven hills – the hills of Plovdiv which are an inseparable part of the city’s history.
Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe. The city is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country and a cultural and economic center of southern Bulgaria.


Capital of culture
On 5 September 2014, Plovdiv was selected as the Bulgarian host of European Capital of Culture in 2019.


Main Street
Plovdiv's Main Street is one of the longest pedestrian zones in Europe, offers excellent opportunities for entertainment and shopping, the restaurants options are numerous.


Kapana
The narrow streets of the artistic district of Kapana are another proof that Plovdiv is an essential place to visit in Bulgaria.


Safety
Generally speaking, it's a safe city where tourists can feel comfortable. The city has impressively low levels of mugging or robberies or cases of physical attacks.
